Which offices announced the most pandemic-fraud press releases, counted from 2,709 Justice Department releases between March 2020 and May 2026.
How this list is built
The archive indexes Justice Department press releases about pandemic relief fraud and records the announcing office on each one. The index records that office as a tag string, and one release can carry several tags: a second district, a Justice Department division, an investigating agency. The index holds 309 different tag strings; split into their components they resolve to 119 components, 93 of them U.S. Attorney's Offices. This list splits each string, keeps the U.S. Attorney's Office components, and credits a release to every office it names. 2,613 releases name one office, 21 name two or more, and 75 name none and are not ranked. The date columns are the earliest and latest release in the index for that office.
Unit ranked: the announcing office. Metric: count of pandemic-fraud press releases. Universe: 2,709 releases across 93 U.S. Attorney's Offices; the 25 below are named on 1,642 of the releases, 60.6 percent. Vintage: releases from 17 March 2020 to 12 May 2026.

What this measures, and what it does not
This counts announcements, not cases, defendants or convictions. A single prosecution can generate several releases — charge, plea, sentence — and one release can cover several defendants. An office with an active press operation will rank above an office that charges as many cases and says less.
The count is of what the archive's index holds. A release the index missed is not counted, and a case an office never announced is invisible to it. A few releases come from Main Justice components rather than a district office, and those appear under their own names.
