Status Conference Held. The court inquired if Defendant would like to have a court
appointed counsel to represent him. Mr. Fayne expressed that he wished to continue
to represent himself. After questioning Mr. Fayne, the court finds that Mr. Fayne
knowingly and voluntarily waives his right to represent himself in this matter. The
Court appoints Mark Jeffrey as standby counsel as to Defendant Maurice Fayne.
Defendant's motion for demand for specific discovery is DENIED WITHOUT
PREJUDICE. Defendant shall have until August 21, 2020, to provide the Government
with a two terabyte hard drive in order to receive electronic discovery.
Mr. Fayne advised the Court that all mail addressed to the address on record with
pretrial services is being automatically forwarded to 6608 N Western Avenue #1307,
Oklahoma City, OK 73116, and that all mail received there is scanned and emailed to
him on the day of receipt. At this time, based on these representations, the Court
will not require Mr. Fayne to maintain a mailing address in this district but cautioned
Mr. Fayne that he alone bears the risk of mail being delayed or lost in transit and the
consequences thereof. The Court also directed, however, that any materials to be
sent via FedEx (or similar overnight delivery) to Mr. Fayne be sent to his address on
record with pretrial services.
