v.

CASE NO: 8:21-cr-370-CEH-JSS

BRIDGITTE KEIM

ORDER

This matter comes before the Court on Defendant's pro se motion to travel to the
Dominican Republic between February 12, 2024 and February 16, 2024 and travel to
Nova Scotia, Canada between July 17, 2024 and August 17, 2024 (Doc. 34), filed on
January 16, 2024. The United States responded to Defendant’s pro se motion to travel
on February 2, 2024 (Doc. 36).
In her motion, Defendant requests permission to travel to the Dominican
Republic between February 12, 2024 and February 16, 2024 for the purpose of
viewing, advertising, and marketing six different commercial properties in the Puna
Cana area of Dominican Republic for work. She also seeks to travel to visit her family
in Canada this summer between July 17, 2024 and August 17, 2024. In response to the
motion, counsel for the Government indicates that he contacted the United States
Probation Officer assigned to this case to ascertain her position on both travel requests
and was advised that the Probation Officer spoke with Defendant about the proposed
travel. Defendant informed the Probation Officer that she already canceled the trip to

the Dominican Republic, therefore, Defendant’s travel plans to the Dominican
Republic are no longer valid. Regarding the trip to Nova Scotia, Canada, the Probation
Officer verified Defendant’s travel arrangements and has no objection to the proposed
travel. Based on the conversations with the Probation Officer, the United States
requests that the Court deny Defendant’s motion, in part, regarding travel to the
Dominican Republic, as Defendant has canceled her travel, and grant Defendant’s
motion to travel to Nova Scotia, Canada. Having considered the motion, the Court
will GRANT, in part, Defendant’s motion to travel as outlined below. Accordingly, it
is now,
ORDERED:
1.
Defendant’s pro se motion to travel (Doc. 34) is GRANTED, in part.
2.
Defendant is permitted to travel to Nova Scotia, Canada to visit her
family for two (2) weeks between July 17, 2024 and August 17, 2024.
3.
The exact dates of travel and Defendant’s itinerary while in Nova Scotia,
Canada must be provided to and approved by Defendant’s Probation
Officer prior to Defendant’s departure.
4.
Defendant must follow all instructions of the Probation Officer before,
during, and after the travel to Nova Scotia, Canada.
5.
Defendant must make regular telephonic contact with the Probation
Officer, as directed by the Probation Officer, while outside of the Middle
