JOINT NOTICE REGARDING PROPOSED COMPETENCY EVALUATORS 
 
 
COME NOW the United States of America by Roger B. Handberg, United 
States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, and A. Brian Phillips, counsel for 
defendant, Evan Edwards, and in accordance with this Court’s Order (Doc. 48) (the 
“Order”) hereby notify the Court of their proposed competency evaluators:   
1. 
The United States proposes Dr. Ryan C.W. Hall, M.D., DFAPA.  A 
copy of Dr. Hall’s Curriculum Vitae is attached as Exhibit A.  Dr. Hall is available to 
conduct the competency examination on Sunday, January 8, 2023; or on Monday, 
January 16, 2023.   
2. 
Defense counsel proposes Dr. Jeffrey Danziger, M.D., whose 
knowledge, skills, and abilities are well known to the Court and counsel.  A copy of 
Dr. Danziger’s Curriculum Vitae is attached as Exhibit B. Dr. Danziger is available to 
conduct the competency examination anytime next week.

The United States objects to the use of Dr. Danziger on the basis that he 
is conducting the competency evaluation of the co-defendant in this case.

The defense believes that Dr. Danziger is better and uniquely qualified 
and experienced in this area and his assessment of the co-defendant will give him a 
greater clinical advantage in assessing the lead defendant.

WHEREFORE, the parties comply with this Court’s order and submit 
notice of the above proposed evaluators.
