The profile
Founder and CEO of Thanx; signatory of the March 24, 2020 fintech letter; advocated delivery-fee caps during the pandemic.
Identity and role
Zach Goldstein founded Thanx in 2011 and is its CEO. He signed the March 24, 2020 letter to Congress as a Thanx representative. Thanx is a loyalty and customer-engagement platform for restaurants and retail, built on card-linked technology that ties purchase data to a merchant's own marketing.
Biography
The Restaurant Technology News interview says Goldstein worked in the customer-loyalty practice at Bain & Company "as early as 2005" before earning his MBA from Stanford; Thanx's About page lists him as CEO and Founder. He built Thanx into a loyalty, CRM and digital-ordering platform for restaurant and retail brands.
Pandemic relief role
Goldstein signed the coalition letter, which asked Treasury to direct "upwards of $500 billion" to small businesses through non-bank lenders and stated, "We seek no gain from this crisis." Thanx originated no loans. Thanx's COVID relief page says the company offered customers extended payment terms on April 2020 fees and waived or reduced certain fees.
On October 15, 2020, Thanx issued an open letter to the mayors of the fifty largest U.S. cities asking them to make temporary third-party delivery-fee caps permanent, proposing a 15% cap on commissions with an exception for delivery companies that share customer data with restaurants (Business Wire).
Legal status / government-program record
No public enforcement action, borrower-fraud allegation, civil settlement, debarment, or criminal charge involving Goldstein or Thanx was identified. We found no source showing Thanx acting as a PPP lender, PPP agent, or government-relief processor.
Where they are now (2025–2026)
Thanx took a strategic investment from RHI Group, alongside M33 Growth and Ribbit Capital, in October 2020 (Business Wire) and remained independent, announcing an Adentro partnership in March 2025 with Goldstein as founder and CEO (Business Wire).
