Your Honor,
My name is April Wesolowski. I am writing you this letter on behalf of my father,
George Thacker. I am aware that he has committed a crime, for which he must be
held accountable. As you determine his sentence I hope my letter is of assistance to
you.
My dad can be described as unforgettable, loyal and selfless. The memories I have
with him are some of the most fun and happy times I have had in my life. He always
goes out of his way to make sure everyone around him is having the best time. He is
well-liked by everyone he meets. Not only is he a good father, but he has spent
incredible amounts of time being involved in the community as Rhea county's mayor.
One day I received a phone call from my father. This was not like previous calls we’ve
had in the past. He seemed very upset and out of sorts. He proceeded to tell me
everything that had transpired and that he was being criminally investigated. He
wanted me to know from him instead of hearing it through news outlets. I was very
confused, angry, and sad because my dad has been an entrepreneur for my whole
life. He came from literally nothing and was given a rough start in life and I could not
understand how this could happen. I was angry. I thought how could he have not
known and was sad because I knew how it would affect the community due to him
being county mayor. I was truly saddened by this news.
After more time passed, I realized that he did not mean to put himself or our family
in this position, and now we are also victims of his unlawful actions. It has been very
difficult with my dad being a county official and the scrutiny we already face. I have
dealt with peers and friends who write and say very hurtful and untrue things about
my dad and family. It has made a huge impact on my mental health as I was 7
months pregnant when all of this happened and was feeling just about every
emotion you could imagine. To say it’s been a hard time is an understatement.
I do believe my father’s remorse is sincere. He has not blamed anyone else for his
crime. In addition to being honest and owning up to his mistakes, he has shown
integrity by being forthcoming and honest with everyone about his situation. He has
taken responsibility for his actions and apologized for hurting his community by
humbly and publicly stating remorse and taking accountability. He has reached out
to numerous people to help himself by taking appropriate actions to assure this

situation will not happen again and by educating others on the issue. My dad has
been continuing community service since unfortunately having to resign as county
mayor. He has continued to be there for countless families through hardships, such
as house fires, and given county workers the assistance they need to perform their
duties despite the constant criticism he is still facing. I'm happy to see he is trying to
do the right thing, make amends, and move forward.
While I am confident that my father is wholly remorseful, I do know that he still
needs to accept the consequences of the choices he made. And so, Your Honor, I hope
that as you determine his sentence you will take into account his commitment to
living an honest life of integrity from here on out. Thank you for your consideration
and your time reading my letter.
