ORDER 
 
Before the Court is the United States’ Unopposed Motion to Continue Sentencing. [Doc. 
15]. The United States requests that the sentencing hearing in this matter be continued, as the 
undersigned Assistant United States Attorney must be outside the Eastern District of Tennessee 
for work-related travel on September 22, 2022. [Id.]. The Court agrees that, because of the unique 
factual issues at play in this case, the interests of justice require the undersigned Assistant United 
States Attorney be present for the sentencing hearing. [See id.].  Further, Defendant’s counsel does 
not object to this request. [Id.]. 
 
Trial courts possess broad discretion when determining whether to grant continuance 
requests. See United States v. Twight, 538 F. App’x. 672, 673 (6th Cir. 2013). This Court finds the 
justification provided in the Motion [Doc. 15] compelling. Accordingly, Defendant’s sentencing 
hearing is hereby CONTINUED and reset for October 6, 2022, at 9:00 AM.
