l am writing to express the profound impact Tracy and Carolyn W ade have had on my life and community. 1

After receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Army in May 1997, I began my career with the
Broward Sherifrs Office. Tracy and I worked together at the samejail facility and shift in Pompano Beach. As I
was new to corrections, Tracy immediately became a mentor, guiding me through the challenging transition to
working in a jail setting. A few years Iater, I had the honor of working alongside Carolyn in the same facility.
80th Tracy and Carolyn consistently carried themselves with professionalism, treating staff and inmates with
respect and courtesy.
As a veteran w ho served in Operation Desert Storm, I have struggled with PTSD and anxiety for many years.
Tracy has been a steadfast source of support, helping me navigate difficult periods of depression. The
compassion and care he and Carolyn have shown extend far beyond their professional Iives- they are Iike
fam ily to me. No matter the hour, I know I can count on them for anything.
For example, when my son, a freshman at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, endured the trauma of the
horrific massacre, Tracy called me almost daily to check on me and my family. That unwavering support is a
testam ent to their character.
Tracy and Carolyn are deeply devoted to their faith, fam ily, and com munity. They are actively involved in raising
their 1 l-year-old minor child and assisting with their young grandchildren. If they are sentenced to prison, the
emotional and physical toll on their minor child and grandchildren would be devastating.
In addition to their roles as parents and grandparents, Tracy and Carolyn run W ade Funeral Hom e, which
provides essential services to the South Florida community. I recently attended a funeral they administered, and
the compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail they provided brought comfort and closure to the
grieving fam ily. Their work is vital to the com m unity they serve.
Although thejudicial system has found them guilty of their charges, I plead with you, Senior Judge Graham, to
consider Ieniency in their sentencing. Their absence would not only harm their fam ily but also Ieave a
significant void in our community. Tracy and Carolyn have dedicated their Iives to serving others through
honorable careers in Iaw enforcem ent and the m ilitary.
Prison time for both would have far-reaching, detrimental efects on countless Iives, including their minor child,
grandchildren, and the community they continue to uplift
