Jeff Zients served as White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator and Counselor to President Biden from January 2021 to April 2022, then later as White House Chief of Staff.

Pandemic-relief / PPP-EIDL role

The White House credited him with building the federal supply-and-distribution operation for vaccines, tests, treatments, and masks. He held no role over the small-business relief programs: he was not a fintech, lender, or SBA official, and not a decision-maker on PPP lender rules or EIDL processing.

Legal status / controversies

No personal enforcement action, relief loan, or company-side PPP conduct was found.

Where they are now (2025–2026)

Zients served as White House Chief of Staff through the end of the Biden administration. No PPP-company or relief-finance role was identified after that service.
