Dear Judge Martínez-Olguín:
My name is Keatyn Boren and I am Aaron Boren’s youngest daughter. I am writing this 
letter to support my father knowing that he has pleaded guilty to federal charges for 
conspiracy to commit bank fraud and has accepted full responsibility for these charges 
related to the Paycheck Protection Program.
I was 9 years old when my mother and my father filed for divorce. Soon after the divorce, 
my mother, brother, and I moved to Indiana where my mother is from. From age 9 to 22, I 
lived in Indiana, miles and miles away from my father. Although we lived far apart, my 
father never failed to have a relationship with me and was always there to support me no 
matter what I was going through. He rarely missed our daily video calls, and often came to 
Indiana to visit us. We would spend every summer with my father and it always hurt when 
we had to part again. On July 22nd, 2023, I graduated from college with my nursing degree 
in Indiana. I was so thankful to have my father in attendance at my college graduation 
ceremony. Just a few days after graduation, my father helped me pack my entire life into my 
car and move to Grass Valley, California. He and his long-term girlfriend welcomed me with 
open arms and supported my decision to become a registered nurse in the state of 
California.
A few weeks after I moved out to California, my father sat down with me to have a serious 
talk. He told me that he got involved in a fraudulent loan program and that he was unsure of 
what was to come from it at this time. I was very shocked and confused about why he would 
get involved in something like that. All my life, I have known my father to be calm, 
confident, responsible, caring, and a good role model to me even though he lived across the 
country. He expressed to me that he was very ashamed of what he had done and confided in 
me about how this situation has led him to develop severe anxiety, panic attacks, and 
insomnia. It hurts me deeply to know that my dad has been living with this shame and guilt 
for so long but I still have so much respect for my father because he has accepted full 
responsibility for his actions.

My father is nothing short of a loving community man who would give the shirt off of his
back to anyone who may need it. I can think of many times that I have spent with my father
where he would stop in traffic or pull off to the side of the road to give money to homeless
people or when we would leave a restaurant, he would offer our leftovers to those who may
be hungry. My dad has a big heart and is always giving back to the community. In the short
months that I have been here, I have noticed how valuable he is to the community around
us. He is always there for our neighbors in times of need. Anything from neighbors needing
to borrow a few eggs to helping neighbors to the hospital in times of crisis. He is someone
that many people, including me, look up to and look to for support. He is a great friend to all
and a supportive father to his children.
No matter what the outcome of this situation will be, I know my father will continue to be a 
loving community man. My dad has been by my side through all of my ups and downs, trials 
and errors, and accomplishments. I stand by my father and support him through this time 
of distress as he has stood by me through mine. I love my father very much and I know that 
with all of the support from our family and friends that he can move forward and learn 
from his actions.
