The profile

DoorDash co-founder and CEO; DoorDash went public in December 2020, and its couriers are independent contractors.

Identity & role

Tony Xu is co-founder and CEO of DoorDash, which he started in 2013 with Stanley Tang, Andy Fang, and Evan Moore (originally "Palo Alto Delivery").

Career arc

DoorDash's investor-relations biography says Xu has served as CEO and a director since May 2013, holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from UC Berkeley and an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and has served on Meta Platforms' board since January 2022. DoorDash went public on December 9, 2020; CBS News and Fortune reported an 80% first-day rise.

Pandemic-relief / PPP connection

DoorDash's growth through 2020 ran on a workforce of independent-contractor "Dashers", the self-employed population the CARES Act made eligible for PPP as sole proprietors and for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. DoorDash was part of the gig-company group that lobbied Congress on worker-classification legislation (The Intercept) and helped fund California's Proposition 22 (see the DoorDash profile).

DoorDash reported 3,886 employees and $2.886 billion of 2020 revenue in its 2020 Form 10-K, far above PPP's general 500-employee limit; Xu was not a PPP borrower or lender.

Government support / loans

No DoorDash corporate PPP loan or PPP-fraud finding was identified.

DoorDash's pandemic-era litigation concerned worker classification and commissions, not relief fraud.

Where they are now (2025–2026)

Xu remains DoorDash's CEO (DoorDash bio) and a Meta board member (Meta announcement). DoorDash's 2025 SevenRooms acquisition is covered in the DoorDash profile; see also Tia Sherringham.
