Identity and role
Sean D. Jordan is a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas (Sherman Division). United States ex rel. Pietschner v. Kabbage, Inc., No. 4:21-cv-00110-SDJ, carries his initials. The relator's sealed 2021 complaint was one of the qui tam actions DOJ identified in its 2024 Kabbage/KServicing False Claims Act settlement. The same docket then became the venue for DOJ's separate intervened case against three former Kabbage executives.
Jordan was nominated by President Donald J. Trump on January 17, 2019, confirmed by the Senate on July 30, 2019, and received his commission on August 20, 2019 (FJC capture). The Federal Judicial Center lists his education as the University of Texas, B.A. 1991, and University of Texas School of Law, J.D. 1994. His court page places him in the Eastern District of Texas's Plano courthouse.
Pandemic relief role
Jordan did not administer PPP and is not alleged to have participated in any company conduct. His role is judicial: the E.D. Tex. docket supplied one of the court tracks behind the Kabbage settlement.
On December 20, 2024, DOJ filed a complaint in intervention in Jordan's court against former Kabbage executives Robert Frohwein, Kathryn Petralia and Spencer Robinson personally, alleging false claims tied to Kabbage's loan-calculation errors, fraud-control failures and overstated guarantees, forgiveness and SBA processing fees (DOJ release text); the complaint itself (ECF 40) is cited, but we do not have a copy. The defendants' motions to dismiss are recorded in the docket index (project document).

Jordan remains a federal district judge.
Paul Pietschner filed the original February 2021 qui tam complaint in Jordan's court. The government's December 2024 intervention complaint named former Kabbage executives Robert Frohwein and Kathryn Petralia as defendants. The KServicing bankruptcy estate, through which FCA claims were later resolved, was before Judge Craig T. Goldblatt in Delaware.
