The profile

Banking Dive senior editor; her May 2024 story covered the Kabbage / KServicing False Claims Act settlements.

Identity and role

Caitlin Mullen is a Banking Dive senior editor (editor page capture), which says she became senior editor in 2026 after joining in 2024 from Payments Dive.

Pandemic-relief / PPP-EIDL role

Her May 14, 2024 Banking Dive story covered the two settlements under which Kabbage (by then KServicing Wind Down Corp., in bankruptcy) agreed to resolve False Claims Act allegations that it submitted inflated PPP loans for forgiveness, guarantees and fees. The combined recovery was up to $120 million (the first tranche up to $63.2 million). The story reports KServicing's admissions of double-counting state and local employee taxes, failing to exclude compensation above $100,000 per employee, and miscalculating leave and severance.

Where they are now (2025–2026)

Banking Dive's editor page identifies Mullen as senior editor based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The bankruptcy side of the case is covered in the profile of Judge Craig T. Goldblatt; the qui tam relator was Paul Pietschner (see his profile).
