DEFENDANT’S WAIVER OF SPEEDY TRIAL 
 
The Defendant, Roody Metelus, hereby waives speedy trial from April 20, 2026, 
through the plea hearing, set for April 27, 2026, and through the remainder of the proceedings 
through sentencing. On April 8, 2026, the Court granted the parties’ request to set this matter 
in front of Magistrate Judge Yeney Hernandez for a Change of Plea. [D.E. 18]. The Defendant 
acknowledges that speedy trial is waived for the entire period of the delay. This continuance 
was requested in good faith, and the Court found as such, and not to cause any undue delay to any 
party, pursuant to the Speedy Trial Act, 8 U.S.C. §3161(h)(7)(A). The need for the continuance 
outweighed the interest of the public in a speedy plea hearing. The Defendant makes this 
Waiver of Speedy Trial knowingly, voluntarily, without undue influence, and after sufficient 
time to consult with counsel.
