ORDER  
 
This matter comes before the Court on Charles Hill, IV’s (“Defendant”) 
Request to Go on a Religious Pilgrimage [Doc. 692].  This Court finds as follows:  
 
On August 10, 2021, a grand jury indicted Defendant for conspiracy to 
commit wire fraud, wire fraud and money laundering.  [Doc. 290].  Defendant pled 
guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud on September 29, 2021.  [Doc. 384].  On 
January 12, 2022, this Court sentenced Defendant to probation for a term of five 
years, with the first twenty-seven months to be served in home detention.  [Doc. 
412].  Because of a serious health condition, Defendant received a significant 
downward variance to permit the imposition of a probationary, rather than 
custodial, sentence.

On June 12, 2023, Defendant filed a pro se1 motion asking this Court to 
participate in an international religious trip from October 12, 2023, to October 27, 
2023.  [Doc. 692].  Defendant, however, is still serving his sentence of home 
detention and will be serving that sentence in October 2023.  As noted previously, 
Defendant’s serious medical condition was a significant factor in this Court’s 
decision to impose a non-custodial sentence, particularly where his co-
conspirators, convicted of similar offenses, are serving terms of imprisonment.  
Under these circumstances, this Court cannot permit Defendant to participate in 
international travel while on home detention.  Defendant’s Request to Go on a 
Religious Pilgrimage [Doc. 692] is therefore DENIED WITHOUT 
PREJUDICE.2  
SO ORDERED this 29th day of June, 2023.
