The world is limited by atoms and not bits. The physical world is the bottleneck, especially in the AI era. But bits and intelligence deployed the right way can accelerate and add exponential value to the messy work of building in the physical world. It requires real depth. Understanding how an industry actually works. All the specific nuances, real-world limitations, human psychology, trust and relationships, workflows. That depth is what separates solutions that work from fancy AI that doesn't. Very excited to be building something that addresses one of the world's biggest problems, manufacturing, on the wave of the world's biggest revolution, AI. And seeing it deliver tangible value to customers.

Supplier fragmentation and compliance is great, because it leads to a more robust, resilient manufacturing base in The West. In theory. In practice, what makes a manufacturing base effective is the ability to discover and activate specialized suppliers on demand, and then form ongoing, trusted, win-win relationships with them. That's a lot of heavy lifting, because relationships and trust are hard to scale. And that's exactly what Adar, Assaf, and Yonatan are doing: Restoring Western manufacturing superiority across defense, aerospace, robotics, and more.

One of our best suppliers called us with this question: "How do we get CMMC ready in time?" They're not the only ones - we kept getting the same call from different shops. Then three weeks ago the Pentagon suspended CMMC Phase II - the third-party cybersecurity audits thousands of small defense suppliers were racing to pass by November. The SBA called the program an "untenable barrier." Shops were leaving defense work before the audits even started. That tells you where small shops are right now. This is an owner who already answers the phone, programs the machines, and chases payments before lunch. Now they're trying to also become a cybersecurity expert, because the alternative is walking away from defense work entirely. some shops make that call. Most don't, they do the rational thing, take the commercial work and quietly exit defense. Multiply by thousands and the industrial base shrinks when everyone agrees it needs to grow. but what bothers me about celebrating the pause is that it buys time. it doesn't change the math. The 60-day review ends. Some version of CMMC comes back, and the shops that invested in getting ready are now in limbo, while the ones who left aren't coming back. Somewhere along the way we decided that's the price of making defense parts in America. I understand the compliance requirement but there are better ways than putting the burden on the small businesses. Machining and compliance are different crafts, and forcing every small shop to master both is how you end up with fewer shops you shouldn't have to become a compliance company to make great parts

I’ve been waiting about 5 years for someone to ask me why we chose the name “Symbol”, and finally, Michael came along :) You should obviously listen to the entire one hour, 1 minute and 2 seconds of our conversation, but here’s a little nugget about the name story - When we were bouncing off names for the fund, somehow I was reminded of an exercise I had back in high school in Spain. The assignment was to choose one truth that everybody believes, and write an essay that tries to challenge it. I chose to go against the invention of the wheel. Not the actual wheel, obviously, but the claim that it's the greatest invention in human history. I thought the most miraculous thing that ever happened came before that - the invention of Symbols. With that, people were able not only to memorialize knowledge, but also to take abstract and complex ideas, and communicate them to others. Obviously I was being a bit of a smartass teenager back then, but the idea that maybe the truth isn't always what everybody thinks it is stuck with me. That idea became the basis of our pre-consensus thesis, and somehow, it also became our name. Thank you Michael and Aleph for having me, it was a real pleasure! A few weeks in, we took a look at our open roles on Shushu and the following data point caught my eye 👀 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟱 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀. So literally the first employees in companies. These are the roles that usually get filled through friend referrals, VC intros, or personal networks. Shushu expands that network dramatically to cover talented, experienced, proven operators hungry to build from Zero to One. If you're an operator looking to join on the ground floor, or a founder looking for top tier early talent, Shushu is for you. Sign up in the link in the comments 🔗

Two weeks in. Here's what Shushu looks like 🔥🤫🔥 We've had non-stop sign-ups since launch. And this week, we officially started making introductions between founders and talent. Some early numbers: 𝟲𝟬𝟬+ 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 in the Shushu talent pool 𝟭𝟬𝟬+ 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 formed between candidates and founders - in just a few days! Who's on the platform? • 𝟰𝟬% 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘀 with an average of 10 years of experience (outside of military service) • 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗚𝗧𝗠, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 are the most in-demand roles, with strong supply in data, ops, and HR too • Talent comes from Israel's 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 companies • 𝟭⁄𝟯 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴. They're waiting for the right opportunity. Maybe that's yours. And We're literally just getting started 👀 If you're an early stage startup founder who’s looking to build your founding team, list your position on Shushu! Link in the comments. Most folks in VC, partners included, are lucky to be responsible for a truly proprietary dealflow channel once in their career. Itamar has developed two already, each of which sourced amazing deals for Symbol. He's also helped countless founder teams deepen their validation and market research, and build more confidence as they set up their companies and hit the ground running. Further proof that the best folks to work with in VC are people who never wanted to be in VC 📦 Racheli and I are both very excited to see him level up as a VP and can't wait to see what he does next. 🚨🚨🚨 Talent alert 🚨🚨🚨 For a while now, my partner Racheli has had a thesis that although there are lots of amazing operators looking to be founding employees and lots of founders looking for exceptional early talent, they're having trouble finding each other 😵‍💫 A few months ago, we ran an experiment to test this thesis. Within a couple of days we had hundreds of operators and dozens of early stage startups sign up for mutual discovery. So we decided to step up our game and launch Shushu - an open platform for the Israeli ecosystem where high caliber founders (pre Series-A) and talent can find each other. We built it around a double opt-in mechanism to ensure high quality matches, time efficiency, and discretion for all involved 🤫 Founders looking for your first employees? Operators looking to build the next big thing? Sign up using the link in the comments. Itamar EliashLinor Stein KolkoDaniel KrasikLia LevinSymbol

מצאתי את עצמי שואלת כל הזמן "AI can go completely wrong. How do we make it right?", ואיפה אני יכולה למצוא את המקום שלי בתוך כל זה. There are two common barriers why people think Quiet Lux might not be for them. The first is what I call the usage gap: “I don’t know how I would use this.” I understand why. When you’ve spent years managing your own life, it can be surprisingly difficult to picture what it actually looks like to hand something off. You know you’re busy, but the individual tasks often feel too small to delegate. The reality is that the things taking up your time are rarely one big task. Maybe you have an appointment that needs to be moved, a package that needs to be tracked down, a vendor who needs a follow-up, or a reservation that needs changing. Each task is pretty manageable on its own. Together, they create a constant layer of coordination. The question I encourage people to ask is not, “What would I use this for?” It’s “What am I currently spending my time managing?” After answering that question, you might have a better idea exactly what Quiet Lux can do.

5 things teenage mutant ninja turtles taught me about manufacturing: 1. just like pizza, quotes should be super-fast. no waitress named Wendy puts you on hold for 3 business days to tell you how much the extra pepperoni costs. 2. just like pizza, DFM questions come before material gets in. Wendy goes like "hey hun, you sure you want extra pepp on that ±0.01mm tapped hole? the tap's gonna do what the tap does." 3. just like pizza, you should know who's making it. his name is Tony. his pepp shines like golden chromic anodizing on AL7075 on a rainy day. 4. just like pizza, someone should pick up instantly when you call. you changed your mind on the toppings ("it's already your sixth revision, honeybun"). Wendy's on a cigarette break outside but she picks up the handset quickly before Tony starts spinning that swiss lathe oven. 5. just like pizza, the 4th one should taste like the 1st. Tony's been there 15 years and he ain't going anywhere. dm me your favorite TMNT turtle and how it changed your career for more pepperoni manufacturing insights
