Chris Pilkerton is the Assistant Secretary for Investment Security at the U.S. Treasury Department. In this role, he leads the inter-agency Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and the Outbound investment security program. Mr. Pilkerton previously served in appointed and acting senior government positions, including as Treasury General Counsel, Administrator and General Counsel at the U.S. Small Business Administration, and White House Senior Policy Advisor. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan and Senior Enforcement Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Prior to his current government service, along with various roles in financial services, Mr. Pilkerton held several research and/or teaching appointments at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, Brown University Center for Entrepreneurship, Georgetown University and Johns Hopkins University business schools, and the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law (CUA). He is a former Vice-Commander (Flotilla) in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and has been recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the “Fifty Heroes of the Fortune 500.” He was a Fulbright Teaching Scholar at Poland’s Jagiellonian University and holds an M.P.A. from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, a J.D. from CUA, a B.A. from Fairfield University and certificates in artificial intelligence/machine learning and data analytics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Cornell University, respectively.
