Biographies of PJT Professionals
James Baird. Mr. Baird is a Partner in the Restructuring and Special Situations
Group at PJT Partners LP. Mr. Baird has worked on a broad range of restructuring
and reorganization assignments for companies, creditor groups, special committees,
and acquirers of distressed assets, including (among others) the following publicly-

M.A. in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) from the University of Cambridge.
Michael Schlappig. Mr. Schlappig is a Managing Director in the Restructuring and
Special Situations Group at PJT Partners. Mr. Schlappig has over 15 years of
Investment Banking experience advising companies and their stakeholders in
chapter 11 restructurings, out-of-court workouts and other distressed transactions,
including the following representative publicly disclosed transactions, among

Amit Sharma. Mr. Sharma is a Managing Director focused on Healthcare in the
Strategic Advisory Group at PJT Partners, based in Los Angeles. Prior to joining
PJT Partners in 2020, Mr. Sharma was an Entrepreneur during which time he
successfully founded and exited multiple startups in the Healthcare space. Previous
to entrepreneurship, Mr. Sharma held various leadership roles of increasing
responsibility at Amgen, across Commercial, Finance and Corporate Strategy
functions. During this time, Amit lived/worked in Asia, Europe, North and South
America. Mr. Sharma started his banking career at J.P. Morgan focusing on
Biopharma M&A across both New York and London. He received a BA in Biology
(specialization in genetics) from The University of Chicago.
Avi Raval. Mr. Raval is a Managing Director in the Strategic Advisory Group at
PJT Partners, based in New York. Mr. Raval was most recently the CFO and CBO
of the gene editing company Synthego and has more than 20 years of financial and
strategic experience. Prior to joining Synthego, he was a Managing Director and
founding member of the Healthcare Group at Perella Weinberg Partners with a
primary focus on Medical Devices. During his tenure there, Mr. Raval advised
companies on a wide variety of mergers and acquisitions, strategic matters, and
public and private financings and also served as Chief Operating Officer for the
firm’s advisory business. Prior to that, Mr. Raval started his investment banking
career in J.P. Morgan’s Healthcare Group. Mr. Raval holds a BA from the
University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton School of the
University of Pennsylvania.
Sammy Lamali. Mr. Lamali is a Director at PJT Partners with a focus on the
healthcare sector. Mr. Lamali joined PJT in 2023 from Morgan Stanley where he
was an Executive Director in the EMEA Healthcare Investment Banking team and
advised companies on a range of M&A, equity and debt transactions. Prior to that
Mr. Lamali was a Director in the EMEA Healthcare Investment Banking team at
BNP Paribas and Director of Corporate Healthcare M&A in EMEA at McKesson.
Mr. Lamali holds a master’s degree in biotech engineering from Institut
Sup'Biotech de Paris.
Dylan Friesner. Mr. Friesner is a Vice President in the Restructuring and Special
Situations Group at PJT Partners, based in New York. Mr. Friesner has advised
companies, sponsors, and creditors in a variety of restructuring and liability
