Logan Green was co-founder and CEO of Lyft from its founding through April 2023, when he stepped down and David Risher became CEO.

Career arc

Green co-founded Lyft with John Zimmer (his letter); the Zimride origin and 2019 IPO are covered in the Lyft profile. In March 2023, Lyft announced that David Risher would become CEO on April 17, 2023, with Green moving to board chair and John Zimmer to a non-executive role (TechCrunch, Axios and Green's letter).

Pandemic-relief / PPP connection

Like Uber, Lyft was too large for PPP, but its driver base of independent contractors was part of the self-employed population the CARES Act made eligible for PPP (as sole proprietors) and PUA. Lyft was part of the gig-industry group that lobbied Congress on worker-classification legislation (The Intercept) and funded California's Proposition 22 (see the Lyft profile).
