Pandemic-relief / PPP-EIDL role

Dayen's "Unsanitized" column covered the pandemic rescue and won the Hillman Foundation's 2021 prize for magazine journalism. His April 3, 2020 piece "Why Banks Don't Want to Help Small Businesses" criticized PPP's reliance on private lenders.

His July 7, 2020 piece "The PPP Witch Hunt is Misplaced" argued against the focus on individual undeserving recipients.
