I Jarvis Randle, am writing this letter on behalf of my friend, Brandon Thurmond. 
 
I have known Mr. Thurmond for over 10 years. We met in college at The University of Arkansas 
at Pine Bluff. Brandon and I became close friends throughout our collegiate years. While in 
college, Brandon, and I both joined a Fraternity together, in which created an even closer 
brotherly bond. After completing our undergraduate degrees, Brandon honorably played the 
role of my Groomsman. Over the years, Brandon and I have become very close, he is not only a 
friend, but a confidant. Brandon has always been dependable, honest, and kind to each person 
he has had interactions with throughout his life. Throughout our extensive friendship, I have 
watched Brandon mature and become a great man, father, and Uncle to my three children. 
 
Brandon is an outstanding family man; he is devoted to his loving daughter. Brandon was an 
active member within our Fraternity, serving as a mentor to young minority males in his 
hometown in Georgia and Pine Bluff Arkansas before his life effecting mistake, that sent him to 
prison. He taught young males the importance of education and development in life goals, in 
which he still preaches today. As a college graduate, Brandon understands the importance of 
earning an education and using that education and skill set to improve not only his life, but the 
lives of his mentees and young daughter. 
 
Mr. Thurmond and I have had numerous conversations in regarding to the charges in which he 
has facing. Since his release, Brandon have moved to better himself and family. At his place of 
employment Brandon was awarded Top Performer and Team Leadership in the 4th Quarter. I 
can truly say Brandon have been getting back to what he values the most; His faith, family, 
work ethic and service. Brandon values his morals, and accountability happens to be one of the 
most important principles to him. He believes that with every action taken (Good or Bad) there 
is a reaction and consequence. Brandon has been more than apologetic to his family, friends, 
and young males that he mentors. He has taken full responsibility for his actions as he knows 
what he did was unlawful and erroneous. Brandon continues to strive to become a better man, 
since he continues to have a heavy influence on the lives of those around him. Honorable Judge

, I sincerely ask you to consider granting Brandon with sentence leniency. With the upmost 
respect, I can confirm Brandon Thurmond is truly remorseful for his poor choices and he is 
ready to overcome this obstacle. Granted with another opportunity, Brandon will restore his 
image of being a great Man, father, and influential community figure to the young male’s role 
model.
